Mr. Saharat Wongsakulwiwat is the Director of the Re-

search and International Cooperation Bureau, Depart-

ment of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Thailand.

He started his career in public service by joining the Min-

istry of Interior in 1993. He soon grew into a specialist in

the field of disaster management. Having studied poli-

tics, public administration and law, both in Thailand and

Australia, he uses his expertise to cooperate with multi-

national governments to help the department effective-

ly respond to emergencies.
